FAQs
Traditional acupuncture practiced at our clinic is based on the principles of Chinese medicine. Chinese medicine is an ancient natural healing and medical practice that has been researched, practiced and refined for over 2,500 years. Use of acupuncture as a health regulation practice is popular all over the world and in East Asia it forms a major part of mainstream healthcare. Evidence of acupuncture’s effectiveness is constantly growing and the NHS recommend acupuncture for certain conditions (read more about this in our Conditions pages).
As evidenced by our reviews we witness the ability of acupuncture to address a wide range of conditions, from chronic pain and musculoskeletal disorders to digestive issues, anxiety and fertility concerns. The holistic nature of acupuncture means that it resolves symptoms and helps address the root causes of imbalance.
In short, acupuncture helps your body to do better what it was naturally designed to do, restoring its function and blood flow so oxygen, nutrients and immunity can circulate around the body more effectively.
According to Chinese medicine, communication pathways crisscross our bodies, connecting various organs, muscles and functions. When these pathways become weak or obstructed it can result in discomfort, pain or illness.
Acupuncture stimulates the body’s natural healing response, encouraging the release of endorphins and enkephalins from the brain to calm the nervous system, restore balance and harmony and optimise your vitality.

Acupuncture needles are very fine – about a quarter to a fifth of a millimeter – most people don’t feel them being inserted. Some individuals may feel a slight pressure as the needle is placed, like a splinter or mosquito bite, however this sensation typically diminishes within less than a second. Your practitioner will be available to ensure your comfort throughout the session. Many patients feel deeply relaxed during and after treatment.

Community acupuncture is an affordable, low cost form of acupuncture where patients receive treatments in a group setting. This allows clinics to offer acupuncture at a lower cost, making acupuncture more accessible but without any reduction whatsoever in the quality or benefits of treatments.
With community acupuncture you are treated in a group setting where multiple patients receive treatment in the same room. Private acupuncture sessions are in a one-on-one setting although acupuncturists may treat multiple patients an hour in separate rooms. In a community clinic, acupuncture can treat more people at once so the cost of an appointment is lowered making acupuncture treatments more affordable.
Treatments last 45 minutes. Diagnosis and insertion of needles takes 5-15 minutes, needles are left in whilst you relax and dream for 30+ minutes.
All appointments must be paid for online at the time of booking. We also offer treatment plans where you can purchase a package of appointments and receive a code to schedule them.
Some insurers and policies cover acupuncture treatments, you will need to check your policy and with your insurer. Our acupuncturists are members of the British Acupuncture Council which trusted by many insurers. Patients will need to pay upfront for treatment but can reclaim the cost through their insurers. We provide receipts when requested please email i. Patients that are receiving regular treatments we ask them to request receipts monthly.
Before your First Appointment you will be asked to complete an intake form with questions about your health to give you the best treatment outcomes.
During your First Appointment our practitioners will assess your condition. By examining your intake form as well as various indicators such as pulse and tongue diagnosis, they gain a complex picture of your overall health. This personalised approach looks at many elements that might be affecting your health and allows them to tailor treatment and recommendations specifically to you. As well as acupuncture, this can include recommendations for dietary and lifestyle habits that generate health rather than deplete it, such as good breathing, good nutrition, good movement and good rest.
Our practitioners are some of London’s best acupuncturists, having each treated thousands of patients.
Following your First Appointment, you will receive a tailored plan for more treatment and any dietary and lifestyle advice such as breathing techniques, meditation, stress management, herbs/supplements, nature immersion and remedial movement exercises. Our aim is to support your overall well-being and provide you with the tools to maintain a healthy and balanced lifestyle.
After your First Appointment you can book Regular Appointments at any of our clinics. If you have not been to us for over a year we ask that you book another First Appointment so we can reassess your health in full and give you the best outcome.
Upon arrival at the clinic, take a seat in our waiting area (we may ask you to remove your shoes, depending on the clinic). The acupuncturist will greet you and when it’s your appointment time, you’ll receive a 10-15 minute consultation, followed by an acupuncture treatment. Your treatment will then take place on one of our acupuncture tables in the main room.
The acupuncturist will ensure your comfort by providing bolsters, heating and/or a blanket before inserting thin, sterile, single use needles into specific points on your body – usually from the elbows down and knees down. You can relax and let the needles do their work during your 30+/- minute treatment. A couple of minutes before the end of your appointment, the acupuncturist will return to remove the needles. The acupuncturist will be present in the room for most of your treatment, so if you need to communicate with them, just call for them or anyone else working on that day, even if they are already treating someone else.

Ear acupuncture is our super low cost natural health service.
It involves the insertion of small needles into specific points on the ear. Like the feet and hands, the ear acts as a microcosm of the body, with many acupuncture points that are connected to different areas and functions. Ear acupuncture is often used to treat a variety of conditions, including pain, anxiety, addiction, and insomnia. It is considered to be a very safe and effective treatment that can be done quickly and without the need for undressing, lying down or diagnosis.
£10 ear acupuncture is available whenever we are open. Book your session via our website, choose the clinic and ear acupuncture. Sessions are booked for the time the clinic opens but you can arrive any time during the clinic that day as long as it’s more than 30 minutes before closing.
Come at least 30 minutes before the end of each clinic (our hours are above and on the booking page).
